I Can Do This (Maybe)
Today Conner had to go back to the pediatrician because he didn't weigh enough at his 2 week appointment. I am happy to announce that he gained a 1/2 pound since Monday so he is in the clear. Also today, while I was feeding Conner I must have over fed him because he had already taken 3 oz. so I waited a couple minutes to see if he would take more and so I put the bottle back into his mouth and he threw up, I'm guessing an ounce. So, ta da, for the first time I gave Conner a bath by myself. I know that probably sounds pretty pathetic but either Steve and I have done it together or Steve has just done it himself. But I think I am starting to get a little routine going on which is making life a little easier. I have to say, I know I've only been a mom for 3 weeks and I haven't experienced really anything yet, but I now realize how hard moms really do work, and I am sure in a few more months and years that realization will only become greater.

2 Weeks and 5 Days Old
Well, I have to say I have a pretty amazing little boy. He is very content to just sit a watch. He goes to bed around 9:30ish p.m. and wakes up about 1:30 a.m. and then again about 5:30 a.m. For some reason it is very hard for me to fall back asleep after getting up with him. I started laughing while I was laying in bed this morning because Conner woke up around six and I put him back in his crib around 6:30. I then went and laid down and could not fall asleep. Then Steve's alarm went off, he hit the snooze button and within .2 seconds was snoring again. Then the time had lapsed for his snooze and the alarm went off again. I was still awake and the exact same thing happened again he hit snooze and as if he never woke up was snoring again. I seriously started laughing out loud while laying there because after 15 minutes or so I was STILL AWAKE!

Simple Pleasures
Last night my sister had a girl's night sleepover at her house. Steve thought that it would be a great idea for me to go and get away. He drove all the way out to Eagle Mountain to get my stuff and brought it back in to P.G. I only made it about 4 hours until I was aching to see my boys. I couldn't go any longer. I was on cloud 9 the whole way home. When I got home I was unloading the stuff that Steve had packed for me. He of course needed to pack some pads for me since I am only 2 wks post partum. On each of the wrapped pads he had written a message with a magic marker with sayings like, I love you, I miss you, and I can't wait to see you. He is the best. Well, back to simple pleasures after pregnancy, sleeping on your stomach, that is the best! Sleeping on your back. Waking up at 8 a.m. and realizing you only had to get up twice in the night. Walking into Conner's room in the morning to check on him and seeing him wide eyed awake and content. Taking naps this is a rarity but hopefully will come around more often. Any one who worked with me at Mt. Timp is probably getting a kick out of the picture with Conner where is has a pacifier in his mouth since I vowed I would never use one. Hee hee. Sometimes that is a simple pleasure.

Steve hits his nesting period and Conner already had a babysitter
Yesterday I woke up with a little bit of right abdominal pain. By 2:00 I couldn't take it anymore and we went to the doctor's office. They did an ultrasound and blood work. They couldn't find anything with the ultrasound and the blood work hadn't come back so they gave me a shot of Demoral and sent me home till the results came back. I got home and crashed for four hours. When I woke up the pain was excruciating I tried to get to the toilet and I kept weaving from side to side. Steve came up took my temperature and it was 102.5. All I wanted was to be put in to a coma so I didn't have to deal with the pain. I talked to my provider on the phone and she said to go the the ER. Lance, Steve's brother, just happened to call right then to see how we were doing, we asked if he would watch Conner. Steve gave me a blessing and we left. I could barely walk. They hooked me up to an IV and gave me lots of pain meds. They found out it was a severe kidney infection. So they loaded me up and sent me home. The pain is still very strong but it is nice knowing what is going on. As for today Steve has spent most of the morning and and early afternoon cleaning. He mopped the kitchen and entry way, cleaned out the fridge, did laundry, dishes and vacuumed, and did an over all clean up. He has been the one to get up with the baby and today he had so show me how to change the diaper. I am so blessed to have him in my life I couldn't ask for anyone better. I appreciate him to no end. I love you, Babe!

Our New Addition
On Friday I went in to work. I was wanting to get checked even though it had only been two days. Claudia saw me and was still concerned about my blood pressure, it was actually higher than my other highs. She spoke with Dr. Allen and he said I needed to be sent right over to the hospital to be induced. I got to the hospital at 11:20 a.m. I received the Pitocin at about 1:00 p.m, as well as a type of catheter that they placed behind my cervix to help me dilate. At 3:30 I asked for the epidural, it wasn't near as bad as I thought it was going to be. After receiving the epidural I felt good, I hadn't felt that comfortable in months. Around 6:00 I got my other catheter. I had been feeling very nauseous and at 10:00 I threw up and pulled out my IV from the tube and so they had to come clean up all the blood. Around 11:30 p.m. I was dilated to a three and the first catheter fell out, my provider then broke my water. The fluid was dark green, and brown. So obviously he had, had a bowel movement and from the looks of the fluid it had been a couple weeks. So she said that they would have nursery respiratory come in when he was born. At that point I was put on oxygen. From midnight on the babies heart beat kept dropping so the nurse had me changing positions about every 15 minutes. Around 4:00 I believe I had dilated to a six. The idea of a c-section came up because of the baby's heart rate. I asked Steve for a blessing and his brother came at 5:00 a.m. About five minutes after the blessing his heart rate was perfect. That is the picture above. Around 7:00 a.m I was told I was at 9+. At 7:50 a.m. I started to push, I pushed for an hour and a half. Conner did not come out correctly though. Instead of the top back of his head appearing first, his forehead and right eye area came out first. They tried so hard to turn him but couldn't. They just kept telling me to push harder, finally he came out and his heart rate dropped it was in the 60's. They called a second team in to work on the baby and because of how he came out it made the head "larger" so I ended up tearing, a 3rd degree. So the doc came in and stitched me up from the inside and outside. We were shown the baby for about 2 minutes then they took him and we didn't see him for 4 and a 1/2 hours. He had to get a CT scan because of the bruising on his face to make sure there wasn't any internal damage. And it came back clear. He also had a complete knot in his cord they may have been effecting the heart rate. I was told later that most women who have a baby with a brow presentation usually have to get a c-section because they physically can't push the baby out. I was so exhausted after pushing that I passed out for a few seconds on Steve chest. I am so grateful for the priesthood and for Lance. I don't know what would have happened without the blessing. It was kind of funny, Conner and I were well known down in mother and baby because of what he had to go through. He is perfect!

Yesterday I had my 39 week appointment. I am still only dilated to a one but I have effaced more, now I am at 90%. Last night I was having contractions 12 minutes apart, then 9 and then six minutes apart, but then they all of a sudden stopped. I woke up this morning very sore, as if the baby had been pushing down during the night. Today is one of my due dates. If you go by the first day of my last period it's today. It is Sunday if you go by the ultrasound and Tuesday is my due date if you go by the day I ovulated. I think the baby is planning on April. I also woke up with a sore throat and a bit of a cough so I quickly took my 1000 mg of Vitamin C. That stuff is amazing! Yesterday Steve had his dentist appointment. It was suppose to be 2 hours but it ended up being almost 4 hours, he also ended up getting 16 shots in his mouth. The dentist decided that his teeth are worse than he thought and will not be able to use veneers. He will have to have crowns. They prepped his teeth and cemented on some temporary teeth. He will get his permanent teeth in two weeks.

I don't really have anything to say but I am really bored so I thought I would write a little. Today is my day off and I woke up expecting to clean my whole house again, just a little refresher, but all I have done all day is dink around on the computer. I haven't had enough umph to do anything. On Friday I was having a lot of cramping and back pain, along with sharp pain shooting down my legs. I was hopeful that something was happening turns out it was just a UTI. Thank goodness for antibiotics. On Saturday we went to the Draper Temple open house, it is a very beautiful temple. I was so amazed to hear how so many of the materials to make the temple came from different places all over the world. I also thought that it was very kind of them to provide refreshments after the open house. That's a lot of people to feed. Remember how the day after Steve hurt his teeth he lost a little more of his canine while brushing? Well, that tooth has been giving him some extra pain so he called the root canal dentist and they got him in today. Turns out he needs another root canal, so he is getting that today at 4:00. He said the worst parts about the first one were the shots that he got. I am just so grateful for these dentist to get everything done so quickly, especially since the baby is due in a week! But I'm pretty sure the only way to get the baby out is by being induced. I don't think he'll come by himself, he's too comfy. So we'll probably have more than a week, I just can't wait till I can take deep breath's again. Steve is getting so impatient. Whenever we are around babies he says, "Are you sure you don't want to be induced?" He can't wait.
