Photos, Photos, Photos

On our way to Thanksgiving Point with my parents to watch the fireworks!
Conner and Grandma Susan
Kyle (Steve's brother) and Conner
Waiting in line for Kettle Corn. It was good!
Grandpa John and Conner waiting for the fireworks to start.
We had an amazing sunset to watch while we waited for the fireworks.
On the way home from watching fireworks!
We had such good seats at Thanksgiving Point. It seemed like the fireworks were right on top of us. We even had a few pieces fall a few feet from us. Too bad it only lasted 10 minutes.

On Friday we got a tour of the new fire station in Lehi.

Conner's funny face.
Don't worry see below, he likes it.
The other day Conner was just in his diaper walking around the house. He picked up his Sunday shoes brought them to me, picked up his bike helmet and brought it to me. Then after they were on him, he walked out of the house into the front yard. He was ready for his bike ride except he didn't have any clothes on.

So, Friday we went to the fire station, Saturday night we watched fireworks. Sunday night we went to my grandparents house in Woodland Hills for dinner which was really nice. I saw the most precious thing while we were there and kicked myself for not having my camera. My grandpa, who is 91 years old was dancing with Conner to Dean Martin. They were standing about two feet apart facing each other and both bouncing up and down (bending their knees.) My grandpa also had his pointer fingers out kind of doing a shooting action while he bounced. SO CUTE! After my grandparents house we went to Steve's grandma's house and watched some fireworks that they do out on the road.
On Monday, Steve, Conner and I went four-wheeling out at West Canyon. Conner fell asleep on the four-wheeler.
Isn't this so pretty? There were quite a few up West Canyon.
Then that night we went and saw Eclipse with my brother-in-law and my sister-in-law. It was too dark for me. I don't think I would watch it again. All in all it was a great weekend.

Too Darn Cute

Conner is becoming more and more fun! He is a hoot. He can sign seven different words which comes in handy at times. He signs: more, milk, cracker, please, candy, water and cold. He can say over 20 different words it's just a matter if he wants to on that particular day. Even though he can say, "more crackers" clear as a bell he WILL NOT say the word, up or help. Does that make sense to anyone? When I ask him to say help he will sign, please. I guess that works.
He has had a pretty bad diaper rash for about a week and a half so every time he pees or poops he comes to me and grabs at his diaper and then will lay down for me to change him. Today he randomly grabbed the bottle of baby powder, grabbed at his diaper and then layed down for me to put some in his diaper. Yesterday we were doing to go outside and Conner grabbed the sunscreen and handed it to my mom so she could put it on him. It amazes me how quickly kids learn things. After seeing something done one time they will attempt it themselves. He has been such a joy and we can't wait for him to one day become a big brother.
Conner loves our bike rides. We went on one almost everyday last week. He will pick up his bike helmet and head to the door. He even wants to wear his bike helmet when he gets in his stroller.
On Friday the three of us went to the Drive In and saw, Toy Story 3 and Prince of Persia. I think that was my favorite Toy Story out of all of them. Prince of Persia was pretty good too.

One last thing. The other day Steve got Conner ready for the day which was very nice of him but does anyone else think my son looks like Huck Finn?

Progress

This 87 year old woman gave me a Schwinn bike that she has had in her shed for who knows how many years. It is from the 1970s, it doesn't have any gears to change to, and the brakes are on the pedals instead of on the handle bars. It even has the original seat. It gives you a workout and I love it! I didn't want to come in when it got dark outside. I felt like a child who just learned how to ride a bike. It felt so good, I felt free. Kind of weird, I know. I also dyed my hair tonight. Gotta love a $7.00 box of color. It is still wet but I think it turned out well. Doing well on my weight loss, except all I want to do right now is go upstairs and eat everything in sight.
Still have 3 more nights of sleeping without Steve. Man it is hard to go to bed at night without him. (He is at scout camp.)
Tomorrow my mom is going to attempt to put some layers in my hair. Yeah!

Nothing Much

Thank you for all the kind comments about my miscarriage. It was nice to hear people care.
Steve is at scout camp all week, so I have a few ideas while he is gone. I am going to color and cut my hair and lose 2 lbs this week. I have lost five pounds since June 1st but I still have 16 more pounds to go. This week I am going to force myself to exercise. Any hair color ideas?
Steve took our camera camping or else I would post a picture of the blanket that I made him for Father's Day.
It's going to be a good week!

15 Month Birthday

Conner turned 15 months on June 7th and he looked great at his doctor's appointment.
He is 32 1/4" tall (I think) which is 75th percentile,
weighs 23.8 lbs which is 50th percentile,
and his head is in the 75th percentile I don't remember how big it was. This is a picture of Conner's meaty thigh with his blue camo band aide after his got his shots.
On Wednesday Steve had to work out in Roosevelt. He left at 6:00 am on Wednesday and wasn't suppose to get home until Friday night. Luckily he was able to make it home Thursday night because they got their work done so fast. It is hard to go to sleep without Steve next to me and Conner was having dad withdrawals. To try and keep ourselves busy we went to my niece's coach pitch game. Here are some pics.
Conner and me right before the softball game. I am so grateful that I have him.
As we were getting into the car to go to the coach pitch game Conner fell and got his first skinned knee. Am I a first time mom or what!
He is just chilling at the game.

Grandma and Conner

As soon as I get the camera out Conner runs over to me to look at the pictures on the back of the camera. So I couldn't get a picture of him just standing there he is constantly coming to look at the camera. He totally reminds me of Charlie Brown in this picture.Conner's favorite thing to do right now is run away when I call for him or to just completely ignore me when I am talking.

Weekend at the Cabin

This weekend we went to Steve's aunt and uncle's cabin by Mt. Pleasant. Almost all of his brothers and sisters were there with their kids. It was nice. We went 4-wheeling, played Just Dance on the Wii and ate. I love food. But I am starting a diet. It isn't too bad either. You can earn 10 points a day. You get:
one point for eating a healthy and proportioned breakfast
one point for eating a healthy and proportioned lunch
one point for eating a healthy and proportioned dinner
one point for drinking 64 oz of water
one point for taking a multivitamin
one point for not eating sugar (sweets)
one point for not eating unhealthy snakes
one point for not eating after 8:00 pm
two points for exercising 45 minutes a day.
Sounds pretty good huh? The best part is, you get one free day a week! I seriously want to go and buy Just Dance for the Wii and have that be my workout everyday. It really is a workout if you get into it and it is fun. I can't wait to get healthy. Now here are some pics from the weekend:
He was loving it!
The picture above is of most of the cousins. Conner started closing his eyes and falling asleep on the 4 wheeler ride. He just watched Steve and me behind him the entire time.

Conner was so stinking excited at this point (Above picture). All the kids were in one room getting ready to lay down and go to bed. He started squealing and wouldn't stop moving. He was climbing onto the bunk beds, climbing over kids, pretty much just getting in the way of all his cousins. I think that was his favorite part about the weekend.
I am loving family time more and more. I am so blessed to have Conner and Steve and this next one is going to make things even MORE fun! Can't wait!
Today Conner was running around the backyard completely naked. Don't worry I had him lathered from head to toe with sunscreen. He was playing in his kiddie pool. He was one happy boy. On Wednesday he has is 15 month check up. He is getting SO big.

Going After A Dream

From the time I was in elementary school I wanted to be an illustrator and author of children's books. A foolish fantasy. I knew I hadn't developed my drawing talents well enough to be an illustrator and I hadn't written any stories since I was in 5th grade. So I gave up on the idea. I never really thought I would pursue it. About a month ago I started to write some rhyming picture stories and realized how much I loved it. It wasn't too difficult for me either. After writing about four of those I decided to write real children's books. (Ones that don't rhyme.) I decided I was going to do this, I would become an author of children's books. No matter how many times I was told no.
I looked up one of the publishers that I was really interested in, Scholastic, and they suggested buying a certain book to help you get started. I found it online and ordered it. It is called Children's Writer's and Illustrator's Market. It is filled with addresses of publishers and the in's and out's of publishing. It is over 300 pages long! Anyway, I looked through the different publishers and found one that meets my style of writing and one that accepts unsolicited manuscripts. Then my common sense sunk in again. "There is no way I am ever going to get published. This is just a waste of people's time." Then I remembered me telling myself this would happen. I will become an author. So, today, I sent in my first manuscript ever to a publisher. It was one of my rhyming picture manuscripts. On their contact information it says to give them 3 months to reply to submissions. So hopefully by September I will have heard something back.
Wish me luck!

Memorial Day Weekend

Steve and I both asked each other today what made the weekend so good. It's not like we did anything extremely fun but it was such a wonderful weekend. I feel like everything is perfect. Don't you love when you have moments that feel like that? Well, on Friday Steve took Conner for a few hours and I went shopping at Kohl's. It was so much fun taking all the time I wanted, wandering around looking at everything. I got two way cute shirts that will work while I am pregnant and when I am not. Then I went to Sonic and sat in my car and ate. Once again I took all the time I wanted. It was lovely. Then I came home to an empty house got in some comfy clothes and started a chick flick. Steve and Conner got home around 9:30 and the three of us just wrestled on the floor and played. Saturday we had breakfast at the Ferguson's and Steve's sister, Eileen, announced she was engaged. Congrats! Then we spent the rest of the day outside in the backyard, had a BBQ. On Monday we went up to Deer Creek, had lunch, Steve and his little sister fished. Conner LOVED the water. I thought it was freezing. Conner just walked right in until the water was at his ankles, stood there for a minute then sat right down in the water. He sat there for about 5 minutes while the waves washed up on him. They hit him at his chest. It was as if the waves weren't even coming he was concentrating on picking up the rocks around him. I was so bummed I forgot my camera. The only reason he got out of the water was because it was time to leave.
Conner has started doing something new this week. He says, "All done." I love it. He says it in this high pitched voice and kind of drags it on. Like, allllll dooonnnneee. He doesn't say it all the time but it is nice to ask him a question and get an answer.

Announcement

Yep, I'm pregnant! We are SO excited. We are so grateful for Conner and can't wait for him to be able to have a new brother or sister. I am due January 16, 2011.

This is how I told Steve I was pregnant. I have had these M&M's hidden in a closet for a month and a half. I knew once I found out I was pregnant I wouldn't be able to hold it in so I had to be prepared. I had Conner hand him the package of M&M's. Steve is so excited!
